OK, am I the only one going wtf at the end of that ep?
It was a good idea, a good story. But there was no pace, everything happend slowly, even though there was an element of 'The storm is coming' it still didn't feel like there was any race against time. The begining sequence was odd and completly removed from the Dr Who-verse in my opinion. Christina didn't work for me as a character. I can see she was put there to add some sort of moral dilemma for the Dr, but it didn't seem like there was any actual dilemma there, we all knew which way the Dr was going to go, and there was no surpirse for us, we'd seen her steal the thing already. I also think its a shame we didn't get to know the other characters at all really, esp as thats something that is normally done so well. With the exception of the far too over the top and cheesy speech there was no real attempt at connection.
I also had issues with Davids voice in this ep. The dialogue lacked the normal manic talking at highspeed magic that is normally there, which could be part of it, but he didn't soud like the Dr. There was something just slightly off, I think it was prehaps to well spoken, he ennunciated things too clearly. Just didn't quite sound right in my head.
In general I tend to prefer the series eps to the specials anyway, but I was really dissapointed in that one. There was no mystery, no twists. Everything happend one after the other and it was all too... neat? Or went back to neat far to quickly.
Although I did like Malcolm... sort of. I think I would have liked him in another ep, but I was too busy looking confused at the screen through this one to really appriciate him.
