Jan. 21st, 2011 10:41 pm New theme to the journal... although I'm not sure if I like it. Mostly triggered by a change in default icon (have a definite Ten thing going atm, I'm blaming revision, DVD's, Shakespeare and baby/wedding news) and it kinda clashed with the old theme.
Guess what... exams done! Yay. Have just had a very nice evening with the 2 other girls who also finished today (most of our other friends still have one wednesday as they did a different module). Pub for tea drinking for me, cider for them, then to ours for pizza and DVD. Cool runnings which I'd never seen before but is an awesome film! Was really nice to have a non-alcoholic end of exams, as they will go out to celebrate with the others next week, but means I got to do a bit of catching up and relaxing too. We also have a big poster on our living room wall entitled 'Questions every good zoologist should be able to answer' with all the questions my housemates have asked over the past two years, which caused much amusement!
Now I have a week off, sort of. Dissertation still needs working on as its been a bit neglected over the past month or so, with exams getting in the way. Have a jumping lesson tomorrow, hopefully it will go well. It's been a while since I've done any but I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll have the throughbred I've been working with recently but it will depend on how much work he's had. If he's done nothing all Christmas, as often happens, I don't fancy pointing him at a jump, he may get more than a little over excited. Then
bexy86 (Edit: Or
_stolendreams_ rather than an old journal that hasn't been used since 2007... fail) is coming down Monday to see the wonders of Southampton... not that I'm sure we have many wonders (although it has just occurred to me we do have a Forbidden Planet), but a girly day is in order I think! Have a few hours work on Tuesday helping out with a Holocaust memorial at uni put on by some of the local schools. Then actually nothing else planned.
Am hoping to do some applications and finish off my CV, check out my references and things. Have decided that monkeys is not going to work, but have found lots of things in America which look promising. Also going to apply for WWF internships, which are super competitive, but look absolutely amazing, even if they are only 3 months long. Along with those I am also going to find as many projects that are currently running as I can and send my CV anywhere that will have it. Basically saying that I'm graduating and I'd like some experience. The likelihood of me finding a paid job is minimal without experience, so anyone that will give me it sounds good! Closest I'm going to get is American internships with living allowance, which would certainly be nice.
And then on top of that I'm feeling the need for some sort of crafty thing to occur. I'm thinking of sewing some sort of Gallifreyan symbols onto a hoodie, although my embroidering skills are a little rusty (read: I did some in middle school about 10 years ago...) but figure I may as well give it a go. I also like the idea of geeky thing that can appear normal unless you actually know what it is, as as much as I love my TARDIS bag, I do sometimes feel a little on show when I wear it out.
Mostly I'm looking forward to a week that doesn't involve pouring over notes and memorising studies. That's not really learning and throughly boring. Even dissertation writing seems like a good break from it, as at least that has something to show at the end of it!
