Dec. 23rd, 2009 12:54 pmMy laptop has died :( It is currently at the laptop hospital while they try to save it but I'm not holding out much hope... Therefore still haven't watched 'The Attic' Humph... heres hoping it's worth the wait! (Also, just incase anyone doesn't get it, I HAVEN'T seen the attic, PLEASE PLEASE comment but no Attic spoilers! Repeat, HAVEN'T seen the attic, OK? Don't spoil my christmas :)
But if its anything like 'Stop-Loss' it will be!
It took me a long time to ship Sierra/Victor, but I got there in Sierra's release ep, and this one just cemented it.
But alongside the ship squee came an amazing storyline. Starting right from Echo's concern not only for Victor, but for Sierra. 'You should say goodbye' made me break a little bit... Like children who don't realise that there not just going to visit somewhere else. Anthony's comment about the war must be finished by now just illustrates the magic of Whedons shows and there handle on the world, they might exisit in all these differant universes, but not that far removed from our own.
I'm not all that surprised by Anthony's quick descision to return to the armed forces, even after kidnapping. We know already that he's open to people playing with his brain, hence dollhouse in the first place, as far as he's concerned it hasn't been 5 years, more like 5 minutes since he left the army, and the PTSD has been wiped. He's just been let go into the world so he is looking for structure, and he obivously tursted the people he was kidnapped by (Although as it was so easy I think maybe meeting for a coffee and pitching it too him might have been an less stressful approach...)
The return of Prya confuses me slightly. Surely a doll with Pria bits but that knows how to fight etc would have been more useful. But then from a fan point of veiw less fun to watch... Also not entirely convinced that she would just follow echo, I'd certainly have questions, although that could be sued to show how deep her love for Victor goes, even though she has never actually met him, in the real sence.
Echo's power was again shown in her over coming the one mind. She's becoming more and more powerful each time we see her. I see it a a real testamant to the human mind. That it can't be held down by anything, something that i think is shown beautfully across Jossverse but never so clearly as it is here (Also reminds me a little of Dr Who, with Tens amazement at the human race just keeps going, all the way to the end of the universe).
And the ending. The only ending Adelle could have given us really, and not one part of me really beleives that Echo is going to stay there, she's faught and faught the active imprints, surely the Attic will just be another fight for her to over come. Hopefully Sierra and Victor are far enoguh developed that they will survive too, at least until Echo manages to get them out.
So in case you didn't get it, I loved that ep. Dollhouse is getting better and better, really running to the finish. Can't wait for the next (And my poor laptop to return :(
PS. Just incase you've forgotten since the begining of my rambling, NO ATTIC SPOILERS IN COMMENTS!
