Oct. 29th, 2008 06:43 pmHad riding lesson today. In the advanced class. Still not really sure. It might just be that I've had the same instructor since I was 6. Jenny knows how I ride and the best way to get me to improve. And Jenny has a specific way of teaching. Which obivously changes with each instructor. BUT I was in the advanced lesson today and we still spent the entire lesson trotting round and round in a circle. I mean, we did actually change direction once in awhile, but nothing really pushed me. And I do understnad getting the basics down before moving up, but it is alot eaiser to get your horse to listen to you if you can work it. I don't see any merit in going round and round. I mean, I got tracking up and an outline, but thats because i could fix my hands and just keep going. And we did everything as a ride, so really, i was just following the one in front.
And she spent the whole lesson yelling at me for my diagnol. Which is not my strongest point, but i can actually recognise it, I just tend to forget. Or I could recognise it. After having and hour of every single thing she said to me being 'Check your diagnol' I think I may have forgotten it. And she does it differantly. Looking at the opposite leg, so I would look down to check it and she'd yell to look at the other leg and then I'd get all confused coz my brain didn't work that way round.
So yeah. I didn't really enjoy my lesson today and came away thinking i couldn't irde. Which is not really the idea. I was hoping to really push myself becuase i have got alot more confident thanks to my Oz adventures and want to keep improving. But I'm really not sure that is the yard to do it at. There is another yard that uni go to on a saturday. Which is supposed to be smaller and a DIY livery, rather than full board like this one. (People keep there horses there, they get fed, groomed and ridden for them, when they want to ride they call up and the horse is ready tacked up in the yard for them. Not really owning a horse if you ask me!!) And that means that we are riding the livery horses, which limits what we can do, coz they're not the yards horses!
I can't ride next wednesday anyway, coz i have practical, so i think i may give the saturday lesson a go, just to see if its any better. If not then maybe I'll stick with it a little longer, just to check that its not just me not adjusting to someone other than jenny teaching me! Or maybe I'll just hack, they run those every saturdya too and if i don't enjoy the lessons i may as well do some riding i do enjoy and at least keep my confidence up!
Oh, or i could play polo i guess, they do that too! That would be quite amusing!!!!!
