30 Day Buffy Challenge: Day One - Favourite Season

 So I've been on a bit of a Buffy binge recently. I was kind of re-watching through exams, now I have nothing else to do and my days are filled with good old Sunnydale. Found this on Tumblr and thought why not. Not saying I'll get to the end of it but hey, we'll give it a go!

Season 2

I admit it freely, I ship Buffy/Angel always and forever. And I don't really overly ship couples, generally going for growth and such. But Buffy/Angel is firmly stuck in my brain. Therefore watching their relationship grow and then collapse is some sort of sadistic fun. Spike, Dru and Angelus also appealed to the rebellious teenager that was bubbling along inside me, and some part of them still thinks they're kind of cool. There are other seasons that have better episodes, better character growth, but if I'm going to watch a whole season, it's always going to be 2.

 

Buffy grinds her enemies to make her bread. 

 

 

The coolest nerd.

 

 

Big bad makes his first appearance. And not subtly either.
 

Season two is also of course the season that brought us the cuteness of Oz. Also at this point I would just like to mention I was 12 when I first got into Buffy, and use this here on in to excuse my rather fluffy liking and lack of any real substantial thought.

 

 

Buffy is in danger from a big snake in the basement of a Frat House. Nope, not a metaphor for anything that... *shifty eyes*

 

 

Because who doesn't want to dress up and look pretty? 

 

 

Angel's gone all away to her, the Slayer. I love Dru, and I love this scene, Angel just has that little bit of apology to him.

 

 

Giles being all English and grown up and stiff-upper-lippy.

 

 

I knew this whole I'm the only one thing was just an attention seeker!

 

 

You have the sweetest smile I've ever seen.

 

 

OK, the next few might be pure fluff. But well, we got lots of fluff in the run up too collapse. 

 

 

Told you. Don't see much hunting getting done!

 

 

Buffy's season takes a turn somewhat for the worst...

 

 

I love Giles here. Watching this when in a relationship my parents weren't at first all for, I fell in love with it.

 

But we still have Willow/Oz fluff. I just want to hug them both!

 

 

Angelus. Paradoxically I love him too... Especially with Dru. I know, my logic does not resemble earth logic.

 

 

 

Jenny... never fails to make me wimper.

 

So you're a vampire with superpowers who would really like to get to what I'm protecting and I'm a puny high schooler? Yeah, still not coming in.

 

 

Bittersweet fluff.

S5 is my favorite, but I love S2 too!!

Not a fan of Glory, so S5 is not a favourite, although like I said, does contain some awesome episodes. I'm up to The Body in my rewatch, although part of me is not so looking forward to watching it.

I think it is from a purely self indulgent resonance with my teenage self, but I love it!

I'm not a fan of Glory, either - but I love the character arcs in S5.

But I really love S2 too! Especially "Halloween" and "Lie to Me" and "Innocence" and "Phases" and "Becoming" - and I think "Becoming" is one of the best episodes of any tv series, ever.

One week indeed! I did just have to beg the car from Mum too on realising that the last train to Northampton from London is at 10.30... given that the show is 3 hours long not really going to work that one. I have it though so can drive to Stanmore and get the tube.

Nope, not at all a metaphor, and certainly not an obvious one!

They were so cute in season 2! (Though if I had to pick I'd be with green_maia and go with s5 even with the eh-ness of Glory.) And Angelus was a great Big Bad! I always loved Angel a bit more when he was evil. He seemed to have so much fun being evil. Poor Buffy though. She was never same after dealing with Angelus and sending Angel to hell.

They were! And having just cried my way through The Body it does have some amazing episodes (well, they all do) But it will always be S2.
