I used visualwit's journal for directions. You need to use a custom CCS layout (she has lots to chose from) and then search through and adapt the bit labelled header. Basically you put the height and width into the code and the url of your banner, it's all fairly self explanatory. Just fiddlely. Her journal probably explains it better, but let me know if you need more help.
