I so nearly missed this ep... there are apparently disadvantages to living in a house where the TV is rarely on (except to play really annoying computor games!) but thankfully Miss Jessica went home to the land of normailty and told all of us here in Uni land of the wonders that are tv adverts so we were pre-warned. I also had to beg and will probably be doing the washing up for the next month to watch it. But it was all worth it for the Doctor. Of course.
Yay for manic Tennent Dr. I don't care how many times he does it, the running round fast paced speech 'oh no the world is going to end in 5 seconds but lets just explore this tanget first' will never bore me. Nor will the glasses and the 'Ah ha!' smile for that matter. Oh David how we will miss thee.
And loving the speech bit he gave to Adelaide too, the 'You inspire the world' bit. Perfect pure Dr.
It was defininatly a good follow on from pompeii. Like an alternative, what if the Dr, just for a while, stops following his rules. And I like that the world didn't implode and aleins didn't come from everywhere. She still died. Just this time she didn't do it saving the world, and thats the Dr's fault. The only world imploding is his. And that for all his knowledge and his generally infallible morality , he still can't do as he pleases. Dr Dictator would be interesting to explore though, and I'm kinda hoping we will get to at Christmas!
As usual I prefer series to special, but as specials go that one was pretty damn good. The majority of the ep was special like, but the end bit was amazing and I want to explore this side of the Dr more. What happens if he does as he pleases, even if its to save people...
