The Eleventh Hour

Anyone still worried that Matt Smith can't measure up to David Tennant? No? Good.

Admittedly he will still have to show us he's got the diversity to play the Doctor, but on first ep. evidence, we really didn't need to worry did we?

I loved it. Little Amelia was awesome, and so cute. And I love the way the Doctor related to her. Not like a child at all, not patronising. And her complete acceptance, yes, a big blue box just landed in the garden and a soggy man climbed out demanding food, and? She did also break my heart a little sat waiting for him, mean Doctor not coming back!

Grown up Amy is going to have no trouble handling the Doctor either by the look of it. Crficket bat! And tie in door and you will explain to me NOW even if the world is going to end. I like her. (Although what is with the Doctor and firey red-head brides?) But does she really think she's going to be home in time for her wedding? Not like he's that reliable!

New TARDIS interior, meh. I liked the old one better, but it'll do. Maybe it will grow on me. And I do like the idea of seeing more of the TARDIS, how do you lose a swimming pool? One other thing, WTF is with the St John Ambulance sticker on the door? But random that... Although SJA did just get a whole lot cooler!

Bits of the Doctor we're still ten 'Wibbly wobbly timey wimey', but I think they were all deliberate. I'm not sure that eleven is completely his own Doctor yet, but he's only just done regenerating, and I think he will be. He's clumsier, still manic, but differently manic, not quite as accommodating, seems a bit more full of his own self importance.

And we just won't mention the credit sequence...

Amy is just awesome. I love companions that don't just blindly follow but actually question and stand up for themselves. It's one of the reasons I loved Donna. But Amy managed to do that without being Donna. Or Martha. Or Rose. Yay new companion

"The swimming pool was in the library". LOL

Oooh I can answer the SJA sticker thing. See I know things ;)
It used to be on the old TARDIS, as in the classic!Who, the first doctor kind of old:

It somehow got lost I guess when they redesigned the show but apparently the TARDIS decided to bring it back when it was redecorating itself.
Wonder if SJA will suddenly find itself with a lot of new 8-10 year old recruits now? lol

Definitely not worried now. Just waiting to see if he's completely his own Doctor or whether there will be too many hints of ten in there, but that's going to be down to the writing not the acting. Clearly acting wise he's fine!

Ah, not so random then (Well, still random, but old random rather than new random)

I think we'll have a new Doctor, that's still the Doctor. That's my hoping anyway

I sort of get the feeling that to him all humans are so young and lacking in knowledge that it doesn't make a difference whether he is dealing with a child or an adult. I am pretty sure that if he made it back in five minutes that he would have taken her traveling.

Wee Amelia was great. She accepted his existence without question, but she gave him a couple of wonderfully exasperated "oh, please" looks at his various eccentricities, like demanding some food and then spitting it out.

I think you're probably right, it would be interesting to see him travelling with a child, as to whether he did look after them as a child or just expect, and quite possibly get, the same level of independent thought.
